Open Studio
Carvers are welcome to join Michael at his studio to work
on their own projects.
Mondays, with few exceptions, White Eagle Studios is open
to carvers to work on their own projects and learn from
Michael about techniques, resources, wit and wisdom.
This is not a class. Hours are 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM most
Mondays and certain other days. There is no fee for Open
Studio time. Please call ahead to ensure Michael's
availability. This is an excellent opportunity to hone your
skills and enjoy carving with others.

White Eagle Studios is located in beautiful Union Valley, north of Lake Chelan, nestled in a pine forest. From Chelan, take
Bradley north. Bradley becomes Union Valley Road climbing out of Chelan and past Chelan's historic rodeo grounds. Just
above the rodeo grounds, Union Valley Road makes a sharp left, uphill turn. Watch for mile marker signs and follow Union
Valley Road to approximately 5 1/2 miles. Turn right at Wheatland Road just beyond the summit. White Eagle Studios is
the first drive on the left on Wheatland Road.

Beyond each project itself, you will receive basic instruction on safety, carving techniques and the use of a
carving knife, gouges and other basic tools.
Participants are urged to bring and use a carver’s glove for ultimate safety. Your tools should be sharp and
ready to use. With this project, we will primarily use a carving knife (knives) and selection of small #2, #3, #5,
or #7 gouges and a "V" tool.
White Eagle Studios typically has a limited supply of Drake carving knives and palm gouges for purchase.
Quantities and styles are limited.
Please bring a sack lunch and beverage. A refrigerator is available for beverages and lunches. A microwave
is also available.
